The death of a loved one is a distressing, confusing and lonely time. Many people choose to have a service at Kendal Parish Church before, or after, a cremation or burial. We can also help you plan a service of thanksgiving at some time after the funeral.
We work with all our local funeral directors to ensure that the emotional, pastoral and practical needs of bereaved families are met in the lead up to the funeral and during the funeral itself.
After the funeral
Following the funeral, we are also here to support you if you need us.
Each year on or around All Souls Day (2nd November) we hold a special service to remember all departed loved ones to which families are invited. Many find this service a great comfort.
The church also houses a Book of Remembrance in which people can record the names of their loved ones on a particular day during the year. This book is at the entrance to the Parr Chapel. If you want to come at a particular time, and you want to make sure the church is open, please contact the office to let us know.
Can we have a funeral or memorial service at Kendal Parish Church?
Yes. We welcome all who have a connection with this church or who live in the town.
If you live outside Kendal we would normally check with your local vicar out of courtesy.
What do I do next?
Your funeral director can arrange things with us or you can contact us directly via the Church Office if you prefer. We will visit you at home to talk things through.
To arrange a memorial service, please contact the Church Office:
